Enduring Power of Guardianship This is a document which appoints someone to make decisions about your personal welfare after you are no longer capable of making these decisions on your own. If you become mentally incapacitated someone has to choose where you live and how you will be cared for. Decisions have to be made about medical matters, as you would do yourself if you could. Being a guardian is a difficult and highly responsible undertaking. It is not easy to do this and it is not easy to find someone to do it. The guardian and attorney need not be the same person, but usually they are. The Enduring Power of Guardianship is a document on its own, which needs to be drafted with care. |
